The Trusted CPD Advisory Board (“the Board”) is established to provide independent advice and guidance to Trusted CPD, a brand of Governance People Limited, on the methodology, standards, and practices used to review and accredit eLearning courses for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The Board’s role is consultative and advisory only. It has no executive or decision-making authority and does not act as a director or officer of Governance People Limited.
The purpose of the Advisory Board is to strengthen the credibility and rigour of Trusted CPD’s accreditation methodology by providing external expertise and oversight. The Advisory Board will act solely in an advisory capacity.
The Advisory Board will:
– Review and provide feedback on the methodology and criteria used to assess and accredit eLearning courses.
– Monitor emerging trends, regulatory changes, and best practice in CPD and professional learning.
– Advise on quality assurance processes to ensure Trusted CPD’s framework remains credible, rigorous, and internationally recognised.
– Provide independent perspectives to support the transparency and fairness of the accreditation process.
– Recommend enhancements to Trusted CPD’s guidance and support for course providers.
– Serve as ambassadors for Trusted CPD’s values of integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
– The Board is advisory in nature and has no decision-making or governance powers.
– Recommendations of the Board will be considered by the management of Governance People Limited but are not binding.
– The Board will not be involved in individual course accreditation decisions.
4.1. Composition
– Members will be drawn from relevant professional, academic, or industry backgrounds with expertise in education, training, CPD, or quality assurance.
– The Board will consist of between 3 and 5 members, including a Chair.
4.2. Appointments
– Members are appointed by Governance People Limited for an initial term of two years, renewable by mutual agreement.
– The Chair will be appointed by Governance People Limited.
4.3. Status
– Members act in an advisory capacity only and are not directors, officers, or employees of Governance People Limited.
– Members may receive a consultancy fee or honorarium, to be agreed separately.
– The Board will meet twice per year (normally every six months).
– Additional meetings may be convened if deemed necessary by the Chair or Governance People Limited.
– Meetings may be held in person or virtually.
– A quorum shall be 3 of the appointed members.
The Chair will:
– Lead and facilitate meetings.
– Ensure the agenda is focused and aligned with the Board’s purpose.
– Summarise and present the Board’s recommendations to Governance People Limited.
Members will:
– Review materials provided in advance of meetings.
– Contribute knowledge, expertise, and independent perspectives.
– Maintain confidentiality of discussions and materials.
– Act with integrity and avoid conflicts of interest.
Governance People Limited will:
– Provide secretariat support (agendas, papers, minutes).
– Ensure the Board has access to relevant information and updates.
– Consider the Board’s recommendations in developing Trusted CPD’s methodology.
– Members must treat all information received as confidential unless expressly released for public use.
– Any conflicts of interest must be declared at the earliest opportunity and recorded in the minutes.
– Members must not use their position to secure personal advantage.
– Minutes of Advisory Board meetings will be prepared and shared with the Directors of Governance People Limited.
– The Board’s recommendations will be recorded and may be published in summary form as part of Trusted CPD’s commitment to transparency.
These Terms of Reference will be reviewed annually by Governance People Limited in consultation with the Advisory Board to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
