This guidance sets out what Trusted CPD means by “alignment with CPD good practice” for eLearning course accreditation. It is intended for Approved Providers submitting courses for accreditation.
– Courses must set out specific, measurable learning objectives at the start.
– Learning outcomes should describe what learners will know, understand, or be able to do by the end of the course.
– Objectives should be relevant to professional practice and capable of being assessed.
– Content should directly enhance or maintain knowledge, skills or behaviours relevant to professional roles.
– Material should be practical and applicable, not purely theoretical or promotional.
– Courses should follow a logical flow: introduction, content delivery, knowledge checks, and conclusion.
– Interactivity (quizzes, case studies, scenarios) should be included where possible.
– Courses should comply with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
– Content must be accurate, evidence-based, and up to date.
– References to legislation, regulations, or standards must be correct and dated.
– Content should avoid bias or purely commercial promotion.
– Courses should provide sufficient depth to justify CPD hours or credits awarded.
– Content should provide genuine learning value rather than repetition or filler material.
– Courses should include opportunities for learners to check understanding through quizzes, exercises, or applied examples.
– Reflection activities should encourage learners to consider how the learning applies to their professional practice.
– Accredited courses must provide learners with a certificate or verifiable record of completion.
– Completion records should be suitable for CPD logs or professional body submissions.
– Minutes of Advisory Board meetings will be prepared and shared with the Directors of Governance People Limited.
– The Board’s recommendations will be recorded and may be published in summary form as part of Trusted CPD’s commitment to transparency.
